What To Do With Your Wedding Dress After Your Wedding Day?

At Bridal Blue, we know how expensive some wedding dresses can be. It's a shame to spend all of that money and not know what to do with your wedding dress after your wedding day.

To give you some ideas, we have put together a list of things to do with your wedding dress after your wedding day.

Do Nothing With Your Wedding Dress

The most obvious choice is to do nothing with your wedding dress. And by do nothing, we mean choosing to keep your wedding dress gathering dust in your wardrobe. This is a shame as the wedding dress costs a lot of money and can be sold or reused, but we understand why the sentimental brides would want to hold on to their wedding dresses.

Make Your Wedding Dress An Heirloom

For the very sentimental brides, you could store your wedding dress and pass it onto family members in future as an heirloom. Keep in mind that fashion changes a lot over time - though it also repeats itself eventually.

If you hold onto your wedding dress long enough then it may be in fashion when you want to pass it down.

Sell Your Wedding Dress

If you aren't sentimental and don't mind not seeing your wedding dress again, you could get it dry cleaned and sell it to another bride. A number of physical and online bridal stores sell second-hand wedding dresses on consignment - just head over to Google and do a quick search.

If you decide to sell your dress, make sure it is in good condition as potential buyers will be put off by stains, tears, or damage.

Trash Your Wedding Dress

Another suggestion for the brides that aren't sentimental is to go to one of those post-wedding get-togethers where brides gather as a group and trash their dresses (look up "Trash The Dress" in Google).

The trashing methods are varied and include paint, red wine and water, so take your time looking around to see what appeals to your sense of fun.

Gift Your Wedding Dress

There is always someone out there that is less fortunate financially. Maybe they are unemployed, have low-income jobs, or have a family member with a disability which consumes a large portion of their budget. They need a helping hand.

For the generous brides out there, feel free to give your wedding dress away to someone in need. You'll be a blessing and know that you're making a difference.

Reuse Your Wedding Dress

There are two options for brides that want to reuse their wedding dress. The first option is to get the dress altered by raising it to the knee. The wedding dress is suddenly transformed into a cocktail dress. Obviously, some wedding dresses will be better suited to this than others.

The second option is one for the Simpsons fans out there... dye your dress black and use it as a mourning dress (of course we're kidding!).
